Playtest

Seigneurie is a small medieval game in early development. You keep a ruined refuge: gather, rebuild its wall and survive three raids. The test: play one game (about 25 minutes; stop whenever you like), answer 7 short questions, and send one small file.

Download

The download for the next round is coming soon.

Seigneurie is a download for Windows PCs; it won't run on a phone or tablet. Open this page on your computer to get it.

Start

  1. Right-click the zip and choose Extract All: it won't run from inside the zip. Open the new folder and double-click Seigneurie.exe.
  2. “Windows protected your PC”? This build isn't code-signed (signing costs money we're not spending yet). Click More info, then Run anyway. If your security software still won't let it run, please don't lower your protection for us: tell us instead.
  3. Type a nickname if you like (it's optional), then click Start playing.

Controls

Keys go by position: on an AZERTY keyboard, WASD is ZQSD.

No help, on purpose

There is no tutorial. The on-screen hints are all the help there is, and that's part of the test: where you get stuck shows what to fix. Please don't look things up; just play the way you would.

At the end: 7 short questions

After the third raid, or if the Hearth falls, click Finish & answer 7 questions. To stop early, press Esc, then Finish playtest. Closing the window brings up the questions too. Every question is optional.

Your file, your choice

Then the game shows where it saved your results file, with Copy path and Open folder buttons.

This round's contact address will be posted here when the round opens. One file per game: played twice? Send both.

Can't find it? Press Windows+R, paste this line and press Enter: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Seigneurie\playtests

What's in the file

Nothing is sent automatically: the test build never goes online, and sending the file is your choice. It's plain text (Notepad opens it): timings, what you built, where the raids hit, deaths, pauses of 20 seconds or more, refused actions, your answers, your nickname if you typed one, when you played, and your system: Windows version, graphics card, window size and language. No account, no e-mail address, no files from your computer. More in the privacy notes.

Known limits

  • An early test build: some art is still placeholder, there are rough edges, and it may crash. The file is saved as you play, so it survives a crash: please send it anyway, with a line about what happened.
  • Solo only. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Graphics: GTX 1660 or RX 6600 class or better, with an up-to-date driver (the game uses Vulkan).
  • Tested on few PCs so far: if it runs badly, say so in the questions.

Thank you! Every session helps, short or frustrated ones included.
