Seigneurie is a co-op settlement-defense game I'm making on my own, in Godot. Version 0.1 is its first test build, and it exists to answer one question before I build anything more: is gather, build, defend fun?
You keep a ruined refuge on a rise in a valley. Gather wood, stone, food and gold, rebuild the broken palisade, craft an axe and a bow, and hold your walls through three raids, each bigger than the last. A game takes about 25 minutes.
What's in 0.1
- One map: a valley with a ruined refuge at its heart.
- Gathering by hand and with tools: deadwood, rubble and berries by hand, trees with an axe, rock with the hammer.
- Crafting at the bench: a stone axe, a bow and arrows. The workshop adds repair kits.
- Building: palisade walls (drag to lay a whole line), a gate, watchtowers, a storage shed and a workshop.
- Three raids, each bigger than the last.
- The Refuge grows into an Outpost, which unlocks the archer tower.
- A high camera over the whole settlement: zoom, turn it in steps, or hold the mouse wheel to turn and tilt it freely.
- The test build is solo, and asks 7 short questions at the end.
Not there yet
- Some art is still placeholder, and more is being repainted in the game's new look.
- There's no tutorial, on purpose: the on-screen hints are all the help there is.
- It may crash. Your results file is saved as you play, so it survives.
- It has been tested on few PCs so far.
How to help
Play one game, answer the 7 questions, and send the results file if you're happy to. Everything you need is on the playtest page: the download, the controls, and exactly what the file contains.
Thanks for reading, and for playing.
